Dipping my toes into thriller/Mystery novels.

Gripping novel, I had my suspensions about who the killer was throughout the novel; never expected the killer was by the end of the novel. In the beginning of the novel it starts with a murder that possible connections to other murders in a small town. The last page, the last paragraph threw me through a loop before I could close the back cover. I read that page over a few times to make sure Paula Hawkins wrote that the way she did. I was addicted to this novel to the very end, couldn’t put it down. The story line and the setting is a bit cryptic but beautiful in the sense at the end it bring closure for the characters that didn’t start that way in the beginning. The Author Inspired a different style of writing, how each character moved throughout the novel. And the easy flow between each character’s head from past, present and future. Watching the similarities between Nel, Jules and Lena, the under connection besides being related grow in each chapter slowly. Life is short there will be always be his or her story then there is the truth of reality. People handle grief in differently ways and handle their life in different ways as well. Including with Patrick saw what he saw as a little boy effect his life, future and thoughts. People might not get to say what they want to say exactly to the ones they love before tragic things happen. And sometimes the people who leave us to soon cause more effect on us in a different way afterwards and sometimes creates a mess.

When we meet again

Before I started this novel, I didn’t know a thing about the author Kristin Harmel nor the story-line of this novel. I solely chose this novel based on the cover, I felt this strange attachment to it before the first page. I am not one to pick a book based on the cover, I am picky about my book but this novel was worth every penny. From beginning to the end, the novel had a great flow to it. I enjoyed how the author went back into time in a smooth way; it wasn’t chopped, I felt that she couldn’t miss anything that would leave the reader lost or to have questions about possible missing information. Every character was important to the story and their story individually was key as well. I appreciated that world war two also played a role throughout the novel for the past to the future. The moment in history she chose to pause on and reflect upon was about the civil rights which is beautiful moment to add for the main characters story individually that comes into play towards the end. When you think, you have figured out how the story and where it will go next, it ends up with a different twist that you didn't expect to happen.  The theme was about Family and choices you make in life from the past plays roles in your Future later.

I took away multiple things from this novel that I never thought, I would be left thinking about as I closed the book. Thoughts of family; family I wished I had better connection with. I thought about my grandparent’s, if they never existed then never of us would have existed either. Also, the power of forgiveness is stronger then we really know in life and in death. I think the life we are living there is a purpose for us individually either we are aware of it or not there is reason.

And I think about love its self and we do have that one person, we are meant to be with or know them. We can have that one and only person and not another could fill that spot when you lose them to. And if you lose them in your life, somehow life pulls the two together and at the times you never expected to see them. Be prepared to have your heart pulled and the tissues handy while reading. You will be left in tears even after you finish the novel and days after thinking about the characters story. And left thinking about those in your life and about others that aren't in your life to.

Please let me know what you think in the comment section below, can't wait to hear from you!

P.s In my current reality, after reading this book opened a window in my life that I closed off relating to my family. I think life was pushing this book towards me to give me a little warning to my own life and whats in store.

You need this novel in your life

A Debut novel , You don't want to miss

For a Debut novel Katherine Arden seems she’s been writing novels her whole life. She makes her world appear around you as if you are dropped into the world. A fairy-tale Russian folklore written in a way that I can’t put my finger on what makes her novel Dynamic other than her magical touch. This novel should be a stable on every teens book shelf. Within a few chapter’s in she had me hooked into her world; I might be having withdrawals until I get my hands on her next novel. She brought a new edge to storytelling, to the table by making the past seem current. Each Character brought in was beautifully tailored to the story-line. Vasya is a strong warrior and stands her ground against anyone. From Anne her crazy stepmother to her strong father. Each one of her siblings are a lining to Vasya strength. Morozo is a key character to the story and I didn’t expect to have a attachment to. I love the fact that religion was brought into the mix as well as magic; it gave the story more depth. Folklore should be written like this for every story to be remembered. Household spirits should exist and be honored like the olden days before our time.At the end of this novel; you will understand who is The bear and the Nightingale. And be left with wanting more from them, quickly.

Her next novel is called The Girl in the Tower.
